GLACIER SKATE ACADEMY

THE GLACIER SKATE ACADEMY's figure skating program is Montana's only year round training program for ice skating. At an elevation of 3028 ft. The Flathead Valley is a great place to live and we are a great training center for competitive and recreational figure skaters. 

Our unlimited freeskate package offers a program for skaters in singles wanting to compete in qualifying events within

US Figure Skating. Skaters who wish to advance to the US National Championships must compete through the qualifying process.

The Regional Championships

The Regional Champions are the first of US Figure Skatings qualifying competitions. Skaters can compete in events from Juvenile to Senior. Those who finish in the top four places in their level are eligible to compete at the Sectional Qualifying Event. There are 9 regional championships that take place in September & October. Glacier Skate Academy skaters compete at the Northwest Pacific Regional Championships.

    • Upper Great Lakes Regional Championships

    • Eastern Great Lakes Regional Championships

    • Southwestern Regional Championships

    • Northwest Pacific Regional Championships

    • Southwest Pacific Regional Championships

Pacific Coast Sectional Championships

The US Sectional Championships is an elimination event for the US Figure Skating Championships (Juvenile - Senior level skaters).There are 3 events and they are held in November. Glacier Skate skaters compete at the Pacific Coast Sectional Championships.

  • Three (3) sectional championships (juvenile, intermediate, novice, junior and senior in all disciplines)

    • Eastern Sectional Championships

    • Midwestern Sectional Championships

    • Pacific Coast Sectional Championships

US National Figure Skating Championships

The US Figure Skating Championships are held every January in a different city. Competition is offered in singles, pair and ice dancing at the Juvenile, Intermediate, Novice, Junior and Senior level. The best skaters across the country are competing for the podium. 

After completion of the Championships, the US Figure Skating Board of Directors selects the teams that will represent Canada at the ISU World Figure Skating Championships, ISU Junior World Championships as well as the ISU Four Continents team. Results from this event are also used to help determine what skaters will be on the National teams.

IT’S MORE THAN JUST SKATING!

Skaters enrolled in Glacier Skate Academy learn a variety of life skills as they progress up the US Figure Skating pipleine. These include goal setting, focus, ability to deal with success/failure, time management and principles of fair play and sportsmanship.

  • IF I PARTICIPATE IN THE COMPETITIVE PROGRAM, IS THAT ALL I CAN DO?

No! Many skaters at Glacier Skate not only compete in the qualifying event structure, they also take tests in US Figure Skating Program or participate in non qualifying competitions and event. We offer ice show opportunities in the winter and summer. 

Glacier Skate offers packages to help skaters at all levels. Even skaters that are looking for a couple of days for an after school activity.

Members of the organization have the ability to do the following:

  • Test at U.S. Figure Skating-sponsored test sessions

  • Compete at U.S. Figure Skating-sanctioned events

  • Participate in U.S. Figure Skating qualifying events
